According to the current legislation (L.136(I)/2001) ALL registered speech pathologists without exception, must also be registered with the Association of Registered Speech Pathologists. Interested parties can register online by clicking here and then on the “Register as a new member” icon.
The registration cost is 20 euros and the annual subscription is 60 euros.
Termination of membership
Since membership in the association is imposed by law, there is no question of its termination unless a registered speech pathologist does not practice the profession in the Cyprus Republic (either in the public or private sector). In such a case, the speech therapist should send a signed letter informing the association that he/she is no longer practicing the profession, along with the necessary certificates (e.g. letter from employer, etc.)
Freezing of membership
Members of the association who are absent abroad for studies, work or medical reasons for a long period of time, may freeze their membership by sending a signed letter to the association stating their intention and the reasons for requesting the freeze. The letter should be accompanied by the corresponding certificates, e.g. from the employer in case of work, from the university in case of studies, from the hospital or personal doctor in case of illness, etc. After the freeze is approved, the member is not required to pay the annual subscription for the period indicated in the attached certificates. When the member wishes to activate his/her membership, he/she sends a signed letter to the club and pays the current year’s membership fee, without any additional charge. Frozen members are not considered active and do not enjoy the benefits and privileges of active members listed on the website.
